What we collect

Read After This does not require an account. The three books you enter, and any optional preferences, are sent to our recommendation service to generate suggestions. The service processes this information and may create technical logs needed for reliability and security.

Local browser storage

For your convenience, your most recent recommendation results may be cached in your browser's local storage (up to your last 10 results). This copy stays in that browser unless you choose to share a result. You can remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Feedback and shared recommendations

If you mark a recommendation as good or not for you, we store the book, author, match type, and your response. We do not require your name or an account. If you create a share link, we store the three books you entered, the reading-taste summary, and the recommendations so the public link works. Optional preference text is not included in the shared record. Anyone with that link can view it. Shared pages are hidden from search engines. To have a shared page removed, send us the link through the Contact page.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, we send your name, email address, reason, subject, and message to Erik Kreider by email through our email delivery service so we can read and reply to it. The “Email to myself” button on results opens your own email app; we do not send that message.

Cookies and analytics

Our hosting and recommendation services may process standard technical information such as request times, browser details, network information, and error logs. We do not sell personal data. We do not require advertising cookies to use the recommendation tool.

Outside services

Recommendation requests are processed by a third-party recommendation service. To check book details and find covers, a recommended title and author may be sent to Open Library and Google Books. We may also send a recommended title and author to Amazon to find the matching book page. Retailer, PayPal, Venmo, and social links take you to those companies, where their own privacy terms apply.

Amazon affiliate links

Recommendation cards include affiliate links to Amazon. If you click through and make a purchase, Amazon may share a small commission with us. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.

Contact

For privacy questions or to ask us to delete feedback, a shared page, or a contact message, reach out via our Contact page and include enough detail (such as the share link) for us to find it. We do not currently have a fixed retention period; we remove records on request.
